MATCH REPORT MI V RCB

RCB V MI, on one end Virat Kohli, and on the other end, there was Rohit Sharma. The match turned out to be as exciting as it could be as it ended on a super over.

Winning the toss Rohit Sharma, the skipper of Mumbai Indians chose to field first. RCB had a very good start as openers Aaron Finch and Devdutt Padikal looked so neat. Finchy was striking the ball really well and was taking the charge. Devdutt tried to anchor from one end. Finchy got out on 52 of 35 deliveries with 7 boundaries and 1 six. Virat Kohli came in one down, but looked very shaky and got out early at 3. AB and Devdutt batted while but the later got out after scoring his 2nd half-century in his IPL career. He played some stunning shots including a six off back foot over long-off. Despite a star-studded bowling lineup, MI bowlers couldn’t restrict them within 200. De Villiers 55* off 24 and Shiva Dube’s blistering cameo of 27* of 10 deliveries helped them reach a big total.

Mumbai Indians coming off to bat lost their skipper Rohit Sharma as well as Surya Kumar Yadav very early. Sundar bowled brilliantly in the powerplay with a stat of 4-0-12-1. Just when pressure was building, De Kock went off for the big one but got hold in safe pair of hands of Pawan Negi. Hardik came in tried to anchor as well as play some big shots, didn’t quite go well. Ishan Kishan, who has come in as a replacement of partially fit Saurabh Tiwary was looking tremendous. Sooner Hardik went to clear the fence but caught in the deep. Pollard came in and tried to read the pitch in the initial few deliveries he faced. Just when 90 runs were required from 30, Both Pollard and Ishan Kishan geared themselves and went on to hit the big one’s. The 17th and the 18th overs bowled by Adam Zampa and Yuzi Chahal went for plenty. That turned out to be the turning moment of the match. And that is what a big guy like Kieron Pollard does. In the end, it was 19 required from the last 6 deliveries after a wonderful over from Saini. And guess what, Ishan Kishan almost did it for MI as it was just 5 required from the last 2 balls. He went for the big one, but not this time, he was caught in the deep, and the worst part of which is that he was on 99. Ishan goes for a spellbound knock and in the last ball, Isuru goes for a slower but length ball and goes for a boundary. Therefore match tied and it’s super over.

Batting first in the super over, Hardik and Pollard didn’t quite do the talking with the bat as Navdeep Saini was truly exceptional. Mumbai got just 7 runs from the 6 of Saini. De Villiers and Virat, the best buddies of the team came in came in but Bumrah was just on top of them as he muddled them with the mix of Yorkers and shorter ones. He almost got An De Villiers edged in the 3rd ball. But AB took a DRS and saved his batting for a boundary of a top edge and a single in the next two deliveries. One needed from one. Virat on strike., Burmah goes for the Yorker, misses it by few inches, Virat flicks it on the on side, and there comes cheers for the bold performance they had portrayed throughout the match.
