With a near-perfect batting performance in the battle versus Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi grabbed their maiden points of the season. Zalmi surpassed the Sultans’ 193 with 6 wickets and 6 balls to spare, powered by a Tom Kohler-Cadmore 53, and helpful knocks from Kamran Akmal (37) and Imam-ul-Haq (48). At the end, a slow-burning kind of innings burst into life, courtesy to the blitz of Haider Ali, 24 off just 8, and the weak bowling of the Sultans at dusk was fully exposed for everyone.

The Sultans also had a decent batting inning, one which has started with Chris Lynn’s early wicket, but had been put right by James Vince’s hallmark languid effort. In cooperation with Captain Mohammad Rizwan (41), and a tuneful Sohaib Maqsood, Vince demonstrated his artistic talents at No. 3. (36). But by the end of the night, their total – having lost just four wickets – looked quite short.
