You might as well be transferred there for three hours after Multan Sultan thumped them with seven wickets with almost four overs to go, ending their great start to this season, seeing Lahore Qalandars in the PSL on Friday. Mohammad Rizwan’s 49-ball 76 took care of a 157-run chase with ease.

The bowlers set the tone for the victory right at the start of the game after the Sultans won the toss and chose to bowl. Sohail Khan and Shahnawaz Dhani’s attempt to suffocate Fakhar Zaman for space worked a treat, suffocating him before taking the wicket, with Lahore opener Sohail Akhtar battling for fluency. The Qalandars had achieved just 25 by the time the powerplay was over, their smallest six-over-total in PSL history.

It was only Mohammad Hafeez who pushed Lahore to a decent total, perhaps the only Pakistani batsman to match Rizwan for form recently. He started off by walloping a six back over the head of bowler Shahid Afridi, who had a hard day today.

Hafeez continued to improve, completing his half-century in 27 deliveries, but was dismissed for the first time in the tournament due to a mix-up with Samit Patel. There’s no one to take over reins from him, so from that point on, the Qalandars’ innings started to splutter. Although the early wickets of Chris Lynn and James Vince gave the Qalandars confidence, it was only a glimmer. Joe Denly, Ben Dunk, and Patel all struggled to get their side to a total that would challenge the Sultans, but while the early wickets of Chris Lynn and James Vince gave the Qalandars hope, it was only a glimmer.
