26th January is celebrated as Republic Day in India as on this day India became a republic and its constitution came into effect. Let see how 26th of January turned out for Indian cricket.

1919 : Khan Mohammad Ibrahim represented Bombay,CCI,India,Muslims,WIS (Died on 12th November 2007, Karachi, Sind, Pakistan).


1920 : Vasant Naisadrai Raiji represented Bombay,Baroda,CCI.


1956 : Mir Azmath Ali represented primarily Hyderabad
1956:Diana Fram Edulji represented India Women.


1957:Ashok Omprakash Malhotra represented India,Bengal,Haryana.


1957:Nandlal Shivlal Yadav represented India,Hyderabad.


1959:Vrinda Bhagat represented India Women.


1976:Zakir Hussain represented India A,Railways and Rajasthan

1948:Adelaide Oval Test-Vijay Hazare scored a brilliant century against Don’s team.He scored a sublime 116 before bowing to Ian Johnson.N Harvey made his debut,first ton by Hazare and he also passed 10000 runs in first class matches,Lindwall achieved his best bowling in an innings 7/38.


1986 :Adelaide Oval ODI~Benson and Hedges World Series Cup 1985/86-India were cruising at 172/4 needing 91 more to win but as usual in the late 80s and 90s Indian lower order collapsed and lost the match by 36 runs.Reid was the pick of the bowler scalping five wickets.


1991 :Belinda Clark scored a century against India Women at North Sydney Oval, Sydney.


1992:Adelaide Oval Test-McDermott 5/76 bowled out India for 225 in the first inning and helped Aussies to restrict the deficit to 70 runs.These 70 runs turned out to be gold as India lost the test by a small margin of 38 runs.He continued his performance in second innings too picking up another five wicket haul.


2000:Adelaide Oval ODI-Brett Lee handed India huge defeat in the Carlton and United Series 1999/00.India chasing a huge total of 330 were bowled out for 177 courtesy fiery spell from Lee.He finished with match figure of 5/27 his first five wickets haul in ODI match.Steve Waugh won the toss and decide to bat first,openers complimented it with a solid stand of 163 runs.Mark Waugh scored a fluent century before being stumped out off the delivery of Tendulkar.


2008:Adelaide Oval Test-M Hayden century helped Aussies gain a slender lead of 37 runs.During this Test I Pathan reached his 100th Test wickets.


2010:Mirpur Test-Tamim Iqbal scored 151 runs against India but in vain as Bangladesh lost the Test by 10 wickets.


2012:Adelaide Oval Test-Siddle 5/49 led to collapse of famed Indian batting lineup.Apart from Virat who scored a fighting 116, no one had any answer to Aussies quickie.
