The ICC have announced the ODI team for the year 2021. It features the top performing batters, bowlers and all rounders from round the globe in the year. Another covid affected year meant not all countries played enough cricket due the restrictions. For the first time two Irishmen- Paul Stirling and Simi Singh- feature in the list however none of the Indians could make the cut. It could be probably because India played only 6 ODI matches this year with 3 of them being played with the second string side as the main side was in England to play the Tests after the World Test Championship.

The ICC ODI Team of the year 2021:

Batters: Paul Stirling (705 runs), Janneman Malan (509 runs), Babar Azam, captain (405 runs), Fakhar Zaman (365 runs), Rassie van der Dussen (342 runs), Mushfiqur Rahim, wk(407 runs)

All rounders: Shakib Al Hasan (277 runs, 17 wickets), Wanindu Hasaranga (356, 12), Simi Singh (280, 19)

Bowlers: Mustafizur Rahman (18 wickets), Dushmantha Chameera (20 wickets).

Let’s have a look at ICC Men’s ODI Team over the years. Most appearances by a team 43 : India & 39 : Australia.
