A lot of cricketers have their birthday on October 14th. Here is an attempt to form an all time playing XI with cricketers who have 14th October as their common day of birth.

Gautam Gambhir(captain), Tilakratne Dilshan, Shan Masood, Roland Butcher, Glenn Maxwell, Rashid Latif(wk, vice-captain),  Hasantha Fernando, Asad Ali, Ashton Agar, Saeed Ajmal, Charlie Parker

Openers: Gambhir and Dilshan

Gautam Gambhir(1981): The gritty left-hander from India was amongst the mainstay of the Indian batting line up in all three formats. In 58 tests he scored 4154 runs at an average of 41.96, in 147 ODI matches he had 5238 runs with 39.68 as average while in 37 T20I he scored 932 at 27.41.  His biggest contributions were the two innings he played in the final of the T20I and ODI World Cups, playing a crucial role in India’s victory. He got very limited opportunity to captain the national side in which he had a 100% record(6 wins in 6 ODIs). However, in IPL he truly showed his captaincy skills and won Kolkata Knight Riders two trophies.

Tilakratne Dilshan(1976): The attacking batting all-rounder from Sri Lanka had stellar performances for his team. He scored 39 international tons with 16 in tests, 22 in ODI, and one in T20I. He scored more than 10k runs in ODIs(330) and 5492 runs in Tests(87). He also captained Sri Lanka for a brief period. He was the pioneer of scoop shot over the keeper’s head, later known as Dil Scoop.

Middle Order: Masood, R Butcher, Maxwell

Shan Masood(1989): The talented left-hander from Pakistan has played 23 tests to date aggregating 1368 runs at 31.81 as average. He has scored four centuries in Tests with 156 as his highest score. Young Masood still has a lot to achieve for his national team.

Roland Butcher(1953): He played 3 Tests and 3 ODIs for England, the first black cricketer to represent the team. The right-handed batsman played majorly for Middlesex and in his first-class career of 277 matches, scored 12021 runs with 17 centuries and 65 half-centuries. He occasionally bowled leg-spin.

Glenn Maxwell(1988): Maxwell is a modern-day attacking batsman with a lot of innovations in his game like switch hit, reverse sweeps, and scoops. He is one of the hardest strikers of the ball with strike rates of 158.37 in T20Is and 123.06 in ODIs. He has more centuries in T20Is(3) than in ODIs(2) to tests(1). He is also a handy off-spinner capable of restraining batters and taking a few wickets.

Wicket Keeper: Latif

Rashid Latif(1968): The right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman from Pakistan played 37 tests and 166 ODIs. He scalped 119 catches and 11 stumpings in Tests while in ODIs he took 182 catches and 38 stumpings against the likes of Wasim, Waqar, Akhtar, Saqlain, and Mushtaq. He also captained Pakistan for a brief period in 2003.

Pacers: H Fernando, Asad Ali

Hasantha Fernando(1979): The fast bowling- all-rounder from Sri Lanka showed a lot a promise especially with the ball- claiming 267 wickets in 187 first-class matches, scoring 8673 runs with the bat too. He did not get much opportunity for his national team as he played just two tests and 7 ODIs.

Asad Ali(1988): The right-arm medium-fast bowling all-rounder from Pakistan has taken 513 first-class wickets in 119 matches at an impressive average of 22.89. In List A he has taken 126 wickets in 76 matches.

Spinners: Agar, Ajmal, C Parker

Ashton Agar: The left-arm orthodox spinner from Australia is a very good limited-overs bowler. The young man from Western Australia has played 4 Tests, 13 ODIs, and 27 T20Is amassing 49 international wickets. He is quite handy with the bat too with the highest score of 98 in test.

Saeed Ajmal: The magician off-spinner from Pakistan with a deadly doosra was one of the leading wicket-taking bowling of his time till he got reported for a suspect action. He took 178 wickets in Tests and 184 in ODIs.

Charles Parker(1882): The English left-arm orthodox was a giant in first-class cricket as he took 3278 wickets in 635 matches, third-highest in all-time FC wickets.
