The colored clothes came into the scene in the 1980s with popular events like the Benson & Hedges World Championship of Cricket. The World Championship of Cricket was played to commemorate the 150th anniversary of European settlements in Victoria. The tournament was known as Benson & Hedges World Championship of Cricket for sponsorship reasons. This 1985 edition was played in colored clothing, white balls just like 1980-81 . Indian team wore light blue jersey which later on became synonymous with team India or colloquially called as Men in Blue. Over the span of forty years, Team India wore primarily different shades of blue, some of them have become immortal like Sachin Sharjah desert storm to MS Dhoni world cup finale.
