2014 this day Mahela Jayawardene retired from test cricket. Jayawardene, who made his debut for his country in 1997, has scored 11,814 Test runs, at an average of 49.84 with 34 centuries. His highest score came in Colombo in July 2006, when he made 374 against South Africa, the highest test score by a right-handed batsman, and overall the fourth-best score in the test cricket history. He was also chosen as Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 2007. He played his final Test at his favorite ground, The Sinhalese Sports Club, where he scored 54 runs in his last test innings.

Is Mahela, Sangakkara, or for instance Misbah superlative record scalable to SEWAN.

Performance of Asian* batsman across conditions

*Bangladesh and Afghanistan excluded

SEWAN: refers to these five hosts Australia, New Zealand, England, West Indies, and South Africa.

Some other notations which we will use;

SEWAN_Inns: Number of inns in SEWAN
Avg_dif: Batting average difference between SEWAN and overall career
NHPI: SEWAN number of inns per hundred
OHPI: Overall number of inns per hundred
HD: Difference between OHPI and NHPI

Mahela has scored 11814 test runs out of which he scored just 18.30 percent of them in SEWAN country. This is the worst by any batsman who has scored at least 5000 runs. If we fix 25 percent as a cutoff all top-ranking batsmen in reverse order are Sri Lankans. Sangakkara also has a dismal record, as the southpaw only managed 22.29 percent.

This will be too early to draw any conclusion as Lanka plays relatively fewer matches in SEWAN as compared to other Asian countries.

This list is somewhat not taking into account those players who score a century at will or say in a lesser number of inns. Now we are considering only those batsmen who scored a century in less than seven inns. Gavaskar has splendid records both in terms of hundreds and runs ratio. Kumar Sangakkara and Younis have inflated numbers placing them in the bottom position.
