The preeminent portrayal of Sehwag’s batting “He can change the course of a match with the ease of Moses parting the Red sea.” as described by Ian Chappell. An uncanning ability to play long innings in test match with 4 scores of 250+ second only to Bradman’s 5.He along with Hayden redefined the opening batting. His batting was a perfect example of hand-eye coordination. My personal favourite innings was his 309 at Multan the “First Triple Century” by an Indian.Only he had guts to smash a six to reach hundred and triple hundred. At the stroke of 1pm he floated Saqlain over midwicket to become the first Indian to reach 300.His brutality against Pakistan bowler in particular Saqlain was such that it ended Saqlain’s career. The match turned out to be last one for the off Spinner. Saqlain’s bowling figure was 43 overs 204 runs @4.74.Sultan also holds the record of fastest(278 balls) triple century in test cricket when he tore apart Proteas at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai. He had opportunity to break Bradman’s record of most triple century while he was batting on 293 against Sl.But then a loopy delivery from Murali ,dipping in front and Sehwag scoops it back to bowler, end of a dazzling inning.Among all modern greats he was the one blessed with “Memory Loss Property” a bowler could get past him for couple of deliveries ,but he could smash the next ball over extracover point for four.
