England fans voted on the eve of the 1000th test match to be played by England, the first-ever team to achieve this feat.
Before the 1000th match, 686 players represented England in these 999 tests. The first match was against the Australian Men’s Cricket Team 15–19 March in 1877. In 999 games 357 wins 297 loss,458993 runs scored,856 hundred, highest individual score 364,15227 wickets,669 five wickets haul,19-90 best bowling figure.
Joe Root, James Anderson and Alaistar Cook were the only players from current squad.
English skipper was quoted as “To be selected in the best-ever England men’s Test XI side by cricket fans across the country is incredibly humbling.
“When I think of some of the incredible players who haven’t made the cut, legends of the game such as Denis Compton and Wally Hammond, I’m not sure I would have voted for myself, but I certainly want to thank the fans for thinking of me.
“It’s great to see my current team-mates Alastair Cook and James Anderson be recognised for their contributions to England Test cricket too.”
