Decision Review System (DRS) has long been an issue for controversy among cricketers and cricket boards and justifiably so. The rules have been changed for so many times and there are so many views in support and against the rules. India’s legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar also jumped in the discussion regarding Umpire's Call aspect of the modern decision review system. Currently, rules dictate that in case of LBW appeal, if ball hitting stumps is categorized as Umpire's Call level, the decision of on-field umpire stays.

Sachin Tendulkar however, isn’t fully sold by this idea. A tweet from unarguable one of the best all round to ever play the game tweeted: “What % of the ball hits the stumps doesn’t matter, if DRS shows us that the ball is hitting the stumps, it should be given out, regardless of the on-field call. That’s the motive of using technology in Cricket. As we know technology isn’t 100% right but neither are humans.”

Harbhajan Singh, another veteran spinner also resonated with the same idea, tweeted: Agree with you Paji 1000 percent correct.. If the ball is touching the stump or kissing the Stumps it should be given out..It does not matter how much part of the ball hit the wicket..few rules should b changed in the game for betterment of the game..this is certainly 1 of those.

The idea behind the Umpire’s Call is basically that if less than 50% of the ball is hitting the stumps, it is considered as not conclusive evidence as the uncertainty in the possibility of ball hitting stumps is more. Although both sides have their arguments, only time will tell if ICC will actually consider this suggestion and will make more changes to already evolving DRS.
