New Zealand has abandoned the Pakistan tour minutes before the start of 1st ODI due to security concerns. In past there have been several instances where an international tour was cancelled for varying reasons like security threat, political unrest or tussle with the cricket board.

The 1st Int’l match to cancel was WI-Eng Georgetown test 1981 after Guyanese govt revoked the visa of Jackman since he played and coached in SA .2020 was an outlier due to Covid19 .

1984 : Indo-Pak Peshawar ODI and the tour due to the assassination of then Indian PM Indira Gandhi

1987 : 2nd and 3rd test NZvSL after a bomb exploding near the NZ team’s hotel in Colombo killing 113 civilians.

1993 : EngvInd Ahmedabad ODI after the disturbances in the city.

1994: Colombo ODI SLvPAK post election curfew was imposed because of fear of civil unrest. 1997 : India vs Zim Harare ODI due to a wet outfield 2002 : Karachi Pakistan- NZ match cancelled after a bomb explosion near the NZ team’s hotel just prior to start of play

2005 : The remainder of the tour postponed due to the tsunami disaster.

2006 : Unitech Cup South Africa pulled out due to safety issues regarding a nearby bomb blast in Colombo

2006 : The third match in the series was cancelled following the washout in the second match in view of the weather forecast

2008 : The match was cancelled following the terrorist attacks on Mumbai

2014 : Cyclone Hudhud due to cyclone


2014 : Bravo cancelled the series as they didn’t receive their promised payment from the WICB

2019 : Match cancelled due to tour being called off after Christchurch terror attack.

2020 : Match cancelled due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak
