In PSL 2021, it seemed that batting first would eventually win a match early in the second innings. However, the Peshawar Zalmi fielders’ numerous dropped catches, together with individual fifties for Babar Azam (77*) and Mohammad Nabi (67), ensured Karachi Kings’ convincing victory at the National Stadium. The victory pushes the Kings from fourth to first place on the PSL 2021 leader board. It also extends the chasing teams’ undefeated run to 13 games in a row.

The Kings were failing at 43 for 3 in a 189-run chase when Nabi met Azam in the seventh over of the chase. However, they took full advantage of the opportunities presented by the Zalmi fielders, scoring 118 runs in the next 9.3 overs. Dan Christian then played an unbeaten cameo of 16 in the 17th over en route to smashing the winning runs, finishing a vengeance arc for the Australian after conceding 32 in the last over of the first innings, the most costly over in PSL history. It was a perfect conclusion to the game that the game was ended by a four-run misfield.

There were some benefits for the Zalmi, who were missing usual captain Wahab Riaz, as well as Imam Ul Haq and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, due to a back muscle injury. They were 69 for 4 at one point in the first innings, and it was thanks to a 40-ball 58 of Ravi Bopara, who was called into the XI for this contest, and a 32-ball 46 from Sherfane Rutherford that they achieved 188 for 5.
